Richard: The crown had to wait many years for a new head.
Edward: Not often there’s such a long period without a monarch.
Richard: So now we have another elderly monarch. Be nice to have a younger more sprightly one to lead.
Edward: Age doesn’t mean he won’t be a good king.
Richard: Well, he’s had a quite a wait in the wings to prepare.

Voice-over
The crown is symbol, together with sceptre and orb, of the head of state, conferring legitimacy of reign on the one who wears it. Tradition and unity are bound up with this. A modern argument might include tourism. Makes for stirring TV.
