Ekaterini: Nice logo. Colors recollect the countries colors in the Olympic rings.
Niki: And the shapes, agitos they’re called.
Ekaterini: Agitos?
Niki: Means “I move” in Latin.
Niki: Except that might not be how some of the 15% of people who are disabled do move.
Ekaterini: But the one wing aeroplane girl was inspired to fly by a band in a bus as a climax.
Niki: Not bad.

Paralympics after a powerful son et lumière opening ceremony. The Paralympians’ struggles are inspiring but coming as they do after the Olympics requires a refocusing for spectators to properly appreciate.
In closing…
Yuriko: It’s over, ceremony and all. The flame has gone out.
Seiko: I said I would stay until the Olympics had finished. So here we are, the party, or whatever it was, is over.

| Real Heroes |
Seiko: The athletes were, as they should be, heroes. Their stories, the sportsmanship, the kindness, like those two who fell in the 800 meters men’s semifinal and shook hands.
Yuriko: And others who made the games happen?
Seiko: Well, there were no spectators, thanks to the virus. Which leaves the organizing body, the IOC. Put it this way, their motives are questionable. So the games end less in a blaze of glory than into a streaky sunset.

Perhaps the games will open up discussion about the IOC and the media companies. Insisting on a holding them in the middle of the brutally hot Japanese summer to maximize overseas media profits. Not delaying the games despite an explosion of Covid cases within Japan. IOC now has an image of being an undemocratic political and economic force exploiting sportspeople.
Athena: Stories? Yes, there have been a few. Feel good ones like the brother and sister who both won gold medals in their judo events.
Mirai: And the swimmer who recovered from leukemia to get a place on the swimming team.
Athena: And the gymnast having to pull out of the team event because of suffering a case of twisties.
Mirai: Which most people had never heard of before that. Sounds terrifying to lose all sense of orientation when you’re twisting in midair on the way down.
Athena: And the rescue of the Bellorussian.
Mirai: And the ones who inspire speed and endurance like running a hundred meters or a marathon.
Athena: The backflip artists who inspire me to experience a backflip one more time in my life.
Mirai: The fierce table tennis players, the newer sports like surfing, skateboarding and rock climbing.

Director: We got
some footage. Faroff, yes. But anyway, here’s what I propose. Noise of
helicopters approaching. Photographers with cameras on tripods, standing on a
wall, looking at distant buildings.
Producer: Uh huh.
