The Cat in the Hat Somewhat Deconstructed

Collaborating on a children’s book...
.
Roy: A story about the weather...like...
“The snow swirls about,
Hear how the wind blows.
Rhythm and Rhyme
We sit by the fire
Toasting marshmallows.”
.
Theodor: Even simpler...
“The sun did not shine.
It was too wet to play.
We sat in the house
All that cold, cold wet day.”
_____________
Voice-over
Start with the beats, five for the first line, six for the second.
Character and costume off-beat, rhyme every second line.
Throw in a bit of reduplication.
Cat in the Hat overthrows Dick and Jane.

Sei No, Ya Hoo, O Le!

Ngo and Yasu watch boys playing in the park...
Ngo: What means this, “Sei No?”
Yasu: It’s like in English, you say, “Ready, Go.” I just wonder why he says “Yahoo” when he lands.
Ngo: It’s an exclamation of fun. Like “Yippee” and “Whoopee.”
Yasu: I like the song.
Ngo: Footballs. "Olé!"

_______________
Voice-over
“Sei-No, Ya-Hoo, O-Le!”
1-2, 1-2, 1-2.
Nice beat.

White Rabbit on a Motorcycle

White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit

It’s that DAY
This year in MAY
We can PLAY
On a HarLAY!

Apologies for the awful tooney.
Don’t follow Clooney.
Fall off doing a hooney.
Really it wasn’t fooney.

White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit.
Hip hop, hip hop, hip hop.
Grbp, Grbp, Grbp.
Good Luck, Good Luck, Good Luck!

__________
Voice-Over
No less a writer than A.A. Milne indulged in hopping rhymes. Hops have rhythm.

Christopher Robin goes
Hoppity, hoppity,
Hoppity, hoppity, hop.
Whenever I tell him
Politely to stop it, he
Says he can't possibly stop.

If he stopped hopping,
He couldn't go anywhere,
Poor little Christopher
Couldn't go anywhere...
That's why he always goes
Hoppity, hoppity,
Hoppity,
Hoppity,
Hop.
