A Park Themed Kitty

Recounting a visit…

You can never have too many friends
Malcolm: First I asked Hiro to go, and he said no, too terrifying, so I asked Haru and she said no, too kitsch. So I went alone.

Helena: What did you see? Was it as bad they feared?

Malcolm: Hordes of women, young and old, Kittyfans by the looks of, and stuffed toy animals everywhere. A lot of pink.

Helena: Did you see Kitty?

In the pink

Malcolm: Oh, she was there leading them, posing and parading.

Helena: Was it overpowering and terrifying or kitsch?

Malcolm: Pure kitsch. Didn’t stay but an hour. It was sad and dystopian in a way. Not pandemic dystopian. Maybe parallel universe. People who have alternative values. I spoke to some but we did not converse. They live on a plush doll planet.

Voice-over

Puroland? If you are serious about researching Japanese pop culture, you need to go and see and marvel that such a place draws so many. If you are a Kitty fan it might be a gratifying experience. Some of us might wander about wondering “Was there any worth in this visit?”
