A cluster of contributing events

After a near miss near home…

Penelope: You nearly got bowled by that cyclist. You didn’t see him?

Adam: Nope. He just appeared out of the blue, going like a bat out of hell.

Penelope: Distracted?

Adam: You can say that again. When I think about, there’s this howling wind, the lady asking me for directions, the bus coming and maybe not going to stop. Sure, I was distracted.

Penelope: Lucky with all those converging hazards swirling about you got off scot-free.

Adam: But traumatized.

In an accident report, a phrase like "a cluster of contributing factors" might have been used. Or concurrent complications. Or even fortuitous event (meaning unforeseen or chance event).
