Barry visits Leo who had a somewhat traumatic visit to the vet two days ago.
Barry: You have a lucky face, Leo. I’m not just saying that like some Indian fortune teller. I mean it. You made a lot of people happy, you made a lot of people laugh. You were a YouTube star.
Leo yawns.
Tired? Well, no doubt it’s the medicine. Let’s just hope… You feel a bit more comfortable after the prednisone? Did you understand what the vet said?
Leo looks up.
We’ll do our best. Medicine. Food, whatever you like to eat. And let’s just hope. You never know. Do our best to put ourselves at the tail of the bell curve. That could mean several months.
Leo settles closer.
That’s it. Nice to just sit close.
Ten minutes of silence pass.
Will say this for you. You are a good listener.

How to talk to a dying cat? What to say? Maybe it’s not so different to talking to dying human being. H-E-L-P.

help is as far as 'hows your father' - Wish I had asked more questions of my father
I worry about you Mr Barry Natchos - you seem to be suffering from an obtuse form of comment paupicity syndrome
Remember Jason?
This spate of Comments Anon has me guessing who might be hidden behind that arras.
If I were playing Malcolm C., I would hazard a guess at the IDs citing certain linguistic footprints. 7.19 and 7.22 makes me think SE could be behind them.
The ref to Jason (and possible links to Medea) make me wonder whether there is also a second party interjecting here. I do recall a Jason, a dark companion of the SS whose ancestry sprang from the Ring Trilogy.
Alack alas aah i've been sprunged!
And Black Jason would have thought Euripides was a brand of dog biscuit.
stumbled onto www.davidairey.com = seems good for you bbloggers maybe - I'm not a bblogger either
Cats are healing friends. They don't talk too much which is a blessing when you are a boomer about to exit stage left (or was it right?). You can't hear so well, your train of thought deserts you mid-sentence, some adjectives and and many nouns run away laughing also, you feel tired even after talking to a good friend. Aging sucks, especially when you can remember when things were so much easier. But! I think you can go a little longer and a little stronger if you include a dog, or a cat, or even a reptile, in your life. I hear spiders are low maintenance.
Thanks for the David Airey link, it looks full of good sense and bright and... er... airy?
Yea, aging sucks, bboomers from bbirdwood reunite, see yr rotoiti blog/comment
